Samuel Border, a PhD student, recently presented his work at the March Demo Day, a key event for the HuBMAP community. This gathering, held in Orlando, served as a platform for researchers to showcase their ongoing projects, collaborate on ideas, and troubleshoot various challenges. The event plays a crucial role in fostering cross-group collaboration and providing valuable feedback within the scientific community.
Samuel’s presentation focused on FUSION, a sophisticated tool that merges multi-compartment segmentation algorithms with spatial transcriptomics data. He highlighted the current state of FUSION’s development, particularly emphasizing how preprocessing is efficiently handled using cloud resources. FUSION enables rapid analysis of functional tissue unit (FTU) cell type proportions and cell states, paired with computationally-derived morphometrics, offering a powerful approach for researchers working on spatial biology projects.
