The Computational Microscopy Imaging Lab (CMIL) recently led a HuBMAP hackathon in Boston focused on advancing disease analysis at the cellular level. Nicholas, Sumanth, and Suhas spearheaded the event, which brought together researchers to develop interactive Jupyter notebooks that compare healthy single-cell reference data with diseased tissue from consortia such as CFDE and KPMP.
The hackathon emphasized open science, cross-consortia data integration, and the development of reusable tools. All resulting notebooks are now available on HuBMAP Portal Workspaces, following FAIR data principles. These resources will help researchers explore disease mechanisms and contribute to collaborative advancements in biomedical research.
