Dr. Pinaki Sarder, Associate Professor of AI in the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida, delivered an invited lecture titled “AI × Molecular Insight: Bridging Every Scale” at the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension, Stony Brook University.
The presentation highlighted how artificial intelligence is transforming biomedical research by integrating spatial omics and histology across multiple biological scales—from single-cell molecular data to tissue microanatomy. Dr. Sarder showcased computational pathology approaches that combine advanced image analysis with spatial molecular datasets to identify cell types, quantify tissue morphology, and better understand disease mechanisms.
Drawing on research from the Human Biomolecular Atlas Project (HuBMAP), the NIH Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP), and kidney transplant studies, Dr. Sarder demonstrated how AI-driven analysis can improve chronic kidney disease prediction, transplant outcome assessment, and precision medicine. The talk emphasized the growing role of multimodal data integration in advancing nephrology research and enabling more personalized patient care.
